Author Profile - Sandra Robinson (AKA Scarlett Flame)

Hello and welcome!

I am so happy you could join us today.

G.H – How are you today?
S.F - Great thanks, just finished booking all my hotels for my book signing next year.

G.H - When did you first start writing?
S.F - As a child I suppose, but seriously about 3 years ago

G.H - Did you always want to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?
S.F - Writing is just something I have always done, be it poetry or my diary. I am a qualified Children's Nurse and Health Visitor, so nursing was dear to my heart for a long while too. I left the nursing register last October for good and now want to concentrate on my writing.

G.H - Are you a full-time or part-time writer?  How does that affect your writing?
S.F - A bit of both just now but want to write full time if possible.

G.H - How did you become involved with the subject or theme of your book?
S.F - Believe it or not it was after I first read FsoG and thought “I can do better than this, and also know more about the subject” So started writing erotica.

G.H - Why did you choose to write in your particular field or genre?  If you write more than one, how do you balance them?
S.F - I have published erotica so far and the next book due to be published is paranormal romance /sci fi/ Steampunk but also erotic.
In complete contrast I also have a series of children's books which I am hoping to publish on kindle and paperback before Christmas 2015.

G.H - Where does your inspiration for these stories come from?
S.F - I have a very vivid imagination and dream some parts of my book. Some elements are due to my love of the paranormal and Steampunk.

G.H - What was your favourite chapter to write and why?
S.F - For the published work it would be the last story in the novella, as I got to ask a lot of Dominants pertinent questions about sex, as the POV was from a male Dominant. I got some interesting, and very different answers in response to my questions.

G.H - Where is your favourite place to write?
S.F - In my bedroom, and also the garden, weather permitting.

G.H - Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? i.e. You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?
S.F - I sit in bed ( lazy thing ) or in the garden on a comfy chair.

G.H - Do you use a computer/laptop for your first draft or are you a pen and paper writer?
S.F - I write freehand for my stories but type up my blog posts straight to the computer. I find my work flows better when I write freehand. I write tons of annotations in the margins, also words I want to use in the story.

G.H - How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?
S.F - I research them sometimes and others are names of friends and family.

G.H - Did you learn anything from writing your book?  What was it?
S.F - Yes, especially the Steampunk writing as I did meticulous research for the airship and technology used.

G.H - How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?
S.F - I have been working on the next book for two and a half years but that is because due to personal circumstances I had writers block for over a year.

G.H - Can you describe the feeling you had when you saw your published book for the first time?
S.F - Ecstatic, but also a little disappointed as I had rushed it out and was very unhappy with the editing and grammar. This book has since been republished, I am much happier with it now.

G.H - Who are some of your favourite authors?
S.F - I love Dean Koontz, Anne Rice, and J R Tolkien. I love an eclectic mix.

G.H - Have you ever suffered from a "writer's block"? What did you do to get past the "block"?
S.F - As I said previously, yes. I had some major personal problems and they affected me very badly. I just dried up for a while but I am back now and working on a few new projects, including a vampire story.

G.H - Time for a few crazy questions!
G.H - Do you write naked?
S.F - Sometimes, as I generally sleep naked. I hate wearing clothes in bed.

G.H - Have you ever been in trouble with the police?
S.F - No, not to my knowledge, other than a few speeding tickets that have now lapsed.

G.H - Do you drink? Smoke?
S.F - I don't smoke but I am partial to red wine and tequila though.

G.H - What do you want your tombstone to say?
S.F - That I was loved and cherished by my family and friends.

G.H - If you had a superpower, what would it be?
S.F - To turn back time.

G.H - What secret talents do you have?
S.F - I can sing, and used to be a member of a musical theatre group. I have also choreographed some numbers for a pantomime.

G.H - What is something you want to accomplish before you die?
S.F - Easy one, to make it to no 1 on Amazon and people to buy my books.

G.H - Do you have any scars? What are they from?
S.F - I have stretch marks from having my children, but no scars apart from tiny scrapes when I was a child. I had three older brothers and was a Tom boy.

G.H - Do you dream? Do you have any recurring dreams/nightmares?
S.F - Yes I used to dream about being chased by a witch when I was younger. It was horrible and went on for years. I occasionally dream that the world is ending and I can't get to my family.

G.H – Back to normal questions!
G.H - What piece of advice would you give to a new writer?
S.F - Listen to advise from other published authors when given. My author friends have been so supportive of my learning my craft. Also that you need to keep reading, lots of varied genres. Finally please accept constructive criticism when given, you are never too old to learn and improve.

G.H - Would you share a deep dark secret about you with us?
S.F - Hmmm well if I did it wouldn't be a secret anymore- would it?

Thank you for letting us get to know you and your books. It was an absolute pleasure to have you with us!

Everyone, please remember any questions or suggestions please write them in the comments section below.

Survival Purple 2

Survival Ebook

With intertwining memories and a world of deceit and betrayal yet to be exposed, Survival, book #1 in the Twisted series, is an intense, compelling page-turner, seen through the eyes of Skye 'the Skillet' Jones. A mother. A father. Two daughters and a son. A happy suburban family of five. An alcoholic mother. An absent father. Abandonment. A family ripped apart. Oliver. Beautiful Oliver. My twin brother, my protector. Fighting. Freedom. Death. Cut Throat Curtis. My fire and ice. My light and shade. My pleasure and pain. He taught me to fight; to control emotional turmoil with physical distraction. He had pain of his own, secrets he would never reveal, and I should have known it would only be a matter of time until he left, becoming a ghost in a life I no longer knew. Thomas. My magic. My fairy-tale. The man who promised the happy ever after I’d never dared to dream of. My prince. My lover. My everything and more. But fate was waiting, as always. The merciless force of kismet watched over me, biding its time, waiting to strike; to plunge me into the depths of defeat and leave me with no choice but to succumb. Revival Purple

Revival Ebook

With explosive suspense and dark sensuality, Revival, book #2 in the Twisted series, is a passionate, riveting tale of power, conflict and dangerous desire, told by Cut Throat Curtis Mason. I was a failure. An orphan. A quitter. A heartbreaker. A screw-up. A criminal. A monster. The life I was imprisoned in was the life I deserved. Ollie’s death shredded my tenacity, chipped away at my confidence and stole the will to fight out from under me. When the toxic worthlessness swimming through my veins made me reject the only girl I’d ever loved, she took the rest of my life with her. Alone, away from home and emotionally desolate, I was propelled into a life of greed, control and crime when fate played a hand and forced mine into the clutches of Charlie Alexander Tattersell. My vixen. My poison. My villainous addiction. I fought for and against the life that held me captive, but one painful reminder returned to haunt me. I was the only one who knew the truth. Skye’s truth. My love. My driving force. My life’s obsession. After enlisting the help of my protégé, Jesse ‘the Gentleman’ Kennedy, the mission began. I had to find answers, retribution and the spark that would release me from the claws of the abyss and bring me one step closer to the Skillet. With new secrets waiting around every corner, a vicious Charlie waiting to bury me and the haunting memories of every mistake I’d ever made hanging over me, I missed one vital clue. The key to my revival…

strong and handsome young fighter

The bus stopped outside the factory and I jumped off and made my way in miserably. I hated work; I wanted nothing more than to get the fuck out of there, away from my bench partner, and into the gym. But with a heavy sigh, I pulled the door open, stepped inside the building and walked straight to the locker room. Once inside I pulled my boiler suit up over my clothes, removed the chain Dad bought for my birthday, crammed my stuff into my locker, and began my shift. I hoped my bench partner, Calvin, would be out today, breaking the law somewhere, but he was committed to his probation. More than half of the employees here were on probation or being monitored by social workers on their road to recovery. The rest of us were bums; failures at school with no prospects. I say us because that was the role I played. I kept quiet during lunch break, and kept conversation minimal while we were working. I wanted them all to think I had vacuum between the ears because they couldn’t know the real reason I was here. People didn’t choose to work in a place like this. I had to get us away, Skye and me, and I had to play my part and keep it hidden. Just until I could save enough money and get us the hell out. I stopped at my bench and nodded a greeting to Calvin. He nodded back and pulled out his tools, setting his screwdriver and Stanley knife on the bench between us – unnecessary since we were boxing up hubcaps today, but I didn’t say anything. Calvin had just spent four years in prison for manslaughter. That was a story I’d never believe; I’d heard the truth straight from his mouth. He killed his sister’s boyfriend when he returned from work one night and found them in bed together. He beat the man to death and God knew his lawyer must have been a miracle worker to secure him a manslaughter plea bargain. He got this blood-thirsty look in his eyes whenever the point of his screwdriver caught the light above us, and that was always my cue to put a little more distance between us. “Oliver!” Came the booming voice of my boss as I taped another box shut. “In my office.” I rolled my eyes, then my neck, placed the box on the floor with the others ready for cataloguing, and headed to his office. “Yes?” I asked, stepping in and closing the door behind me. “Take a seat.” He didn’t even look up from whatever documents he was reading. I shook my head. “I’m good. I’ve got a lot to do, so…” He looked up then, with a piercing glare, and before I’d even realised I’d moved, I was sitting opposite him. “Have you thought about what I said?” he asked, running his index finger along the edge of his desk, a subtle signal that I needed to be careful. “About taking over?” He nodded. “No.” “You should think about it. I made you a very good, reasonable and rewarding offer, Oliver.” He was trying to intimidate me. The old man was trying really hard. I almost felt sorry for him that it had no effect on me. Almost. I refused to feel sorry for a man like him, and I refused to let him frighten me into doing something I didn’t want to do. “I don’t need to think about anything.” I shrugged and stood up. “I work here, you employ me, and I don’t want or need anything from you. I’m getting out of this shit hole town as soon as I can, and I’m taking Skye with me. Stay out of my way and just pay my wages until then.” I turned and left the office. Hell if I’d let him keep me here, no matter what he thought he could offer me, or the powerful scowls of hatred he shot me as if he couldn’t understand why I didn’t want it. The man was out of his mind.
